It was crucial to identify when the ‘busy periods’ of traffic were when parents were dropping off and collecting their children. Strict times were communicated to our supply chain which were planned by our site team, that made sure delivery drivers understood the important logistics of site. TPS Construction introduced a ‘walkie talkie’ / 2-way radio system that allowed TPS Construction to talk to both the headteacher and the front desk when deliveries were about to enter and leave site.

Our site-specific traffic management plan, that was agreed with the headteacher prior to commencement, also outlined designated contractor car parking arrangements which allowed contractors to park within the site boundary and not take any car parking spaces specific for school staff.

As a proud considerate contractor, TPS Construction agreed with the school to deliver a school assembly about why we were here and what we were doing. After some interesting and funny stories by our spokesman about construction, he also raised awareness about the dangers on the construction site.

We proposed an idea to the school on the back of this talk, for the children to take part in a safety poster competition, with the top 5 winners posters converted into polycarbonate boards and displayed on our site hoarding coupled with book vouchers each.

The positive feedback from both the school staff and parents was great to hear!
