Lliswerry Comprehensive School

  • Client: Newport City Council/Newport Norse
  • Value of works: £336k
  • Project Duration: 16 Weeks
  • Programme: Completed May 2020
  • Form of Contract: JCT intermediate form of contract with contractors design
The school is situated in south-east Newport, approximately two miles from the M4 motorway and on the boundary between Lliswerry district and the more rural areas of Nash and Goldcliff. Built in 1974, it occupies a large and open campus and has the distinct advantage of being a single building under one roof.

The description of works included the overlay felt and liquid waterproofing the roof. This project was a mirror image of our project but on a slightly larger scale, Llanmartin Primary School, which presented the same unique challenges associated with the risk of working at height, scaffold erection around a school perimeter and logistics.

On both projects, Llanmartin Primary school and Liswerry High School, were almost identical in terms of the scope of works, presented the same project challenges and had the same result. Good management, clear communication and a competent workforce delivered quality products on time and within budget.
